LIGHTHOUSE OF THE NORTH

Lighthouse of the North

The collaborative project Lighthouse of the North, financed within the framework of Erasmus+ program for European Youth, addresses the growing challenges faced by young people, especially those with migrant backgrounds, by fostering creativity, participation, and belonging. It aims to empower young people to become engaged and responsible citizens by encouraging participation in their communities and fostering inclusion and solidarity.

The countries participating in the project are Sweden, Hungary and Ireland. Applicants from other EU countries are also welcome to participate.

The core activity of the project is Lighthouse Academy — a week-long training on art-based methodologies for human rights education in Hungary (May 23-31, 2025). The educational modules covered art-based methodologies, including visual storytelling, graphic facilitation and game-based learning. The program addressed various challenged that youth workers usually face when working with diverse cultural contexts. The learning outcomes included implementation of the methodologies in their daily work upon returning home.

The final product of the project is a Casebook developed in collaboration with local partners. The document captures experiences, challenged and success stories of the local implementation of the methods learned during training.
